I'm closing commissions tonight and no promises this month, but I'm working on extra updates to go with the tally. In my continuing effort to pay bills and other fun stuff, I've entered a design in this week's Shirt.Woot derby! You can take a look at it here! Sadly, you can only vote if you've purchased a shirt from Woot in the past. :( But you can take a look at my Adorable Angelic African Wild Dog Pups anyway! - Tiff

  1. Huh. I had that backwards. I’d thought that the Talin were first, but it turns out the Ricael were created first.

Also: “We tried three times, and it still didn’t work. We really thought that third time would be a charm!”

    1. Oh, but that’s what the text book says.

Something tells me that the history books are in need for major rewrite. That teacher just didn’t have a clue.

      1. Those were the textbooks in the WOLF transitional school. Somehow, I doubt the Mounty, rabbit, ram and fox textbooks say the same thing.

        1. Sorry to get things off topic a little but I looked it up, a “ram” is actually a male sheep.

  2. Humans, it seems have an independent streak. No surprise, there.

    Quinn looks very thoughtful.

  3. Ouch…. I will go out on a limb and say that “adequate” in context means “subservient” and does not refer to intellectual proclivity. Though, at that point in time the Rumuah probably did not consider many races intellectually adequate.

  4. Of note, if I recall correctly, the mere fact that any of their ancestors came from Earth was or is a taboo subject. In all liklihood, that might be a VERY generally-upheld taboo, in the same way highly religious folk usually tend to not accept Darwinian evolution. It might even be something that generates a similar level of knee-jerk, automatic rejection.

As to the matter of inadequate, it might be just what you’re discounting, Lycanthrope: intellectual capacity and proclivity. I wonder just HOW deeply the Rumuah attempted actual social engineering, or if such was something of a taboo subject for them.

The fact of all but the humans being Uplifts has always been a beautiful, interesting thing for me in this comicv, and now we’re getting to see some of the mentality behind that. Thank you, Tiff, for giving us a glimpse behind the curtain. ^_^

  5. Ada: However, I DON’T remember us uplifting the raccoons.
