It is not water (it's energy) and the horse is not fire based at all. :D That's kinda the point of why it looks so different from what the reports said. You'll notice that it's not fire at all, just lovely mane and tail.

Since he just unlocked them his power isn’t too refined right now but that’s just my opinion. Even unrefined an energy blast is still an energy blast and its still not something I’d want to be hit by.
Did anyone else think when they first saw this something along the lines of:

It seems like the horse is the embodiment of heat/fire (and maybe manifested by the hurt fox?), and Darrik’s water blast creates the age old fire v ice/water thing. Perhaps he’s used the only thing that could hurt it? But I’m just speculatin’ here…
I think lightning bolts take a little more skill than “panic”. But we know they’re possible, given that the “eccentric” black fox technomage seen a while bad was surrounded by lightning.
I kinda hope it’s an energy blast – manifesting a couple dozen litres of water out of thin air would have serious issues with thermodynamics, what with creating one gram needing energy on par with a 22 kiloton nuke.
‘course, there’s always air transmutation(which would have resulted in a thunderous bang as air crashed in to fill the void – big volume differences there, afterall), or something like a hyperspace tap providing the power, but that’s still a huge frakton of energy to channel through his fuzzy paws(ie, if he screwed up, you’d hear it on the other side of the continent :D).
*note; I just like this stuff, I’m not criticising. :p
Also, I think the blast scared Darrik more than it scared the horse. 😀

I suspect that the demon horse is now afraid of Darrik. and Darrik will soon be afraid of himself very soon.
Darrik has death beam eyes. If it is a water beam, it would be be devastating to the flaming demon horse. I wounder what will happen if it’s fire dies?

Given what we’ve seen of the power of the black fox in No Angel, I think the demon horse is going to be a little worse for wear after this.
