  1. Now that my 400-year hibernation has just ended, I need a nap.
    Heh. 😉

  2. Cryo can be a pain. Darn advanced technology.

  3. I guess he needs to wake up in stages after that long of sleep XD

  4. The first episode of Red Dwarf explains cryo-stasis perfectly. I believe it involves lots of something to do with quantum… whatever that is 😛

Anyway I can imagine that being kept in a non-existent state like that for 400 years could bring about a huge amount of sleep deprivation to your body.
    Sleep well ^^

  5. @ squival: quantum physics. that and he would need to regenerate the nutrients that were lost. if you read one of the halo books, the first one, i believe, it mentions that you lose nutrients in cold sleep, cryo-stasis, whatever you want to call it

  6. Wait… He took a long nap, and after doing little more than taking a short walk and eating he needs to nap again? That’s it. He isn’t a wolf, he’s a kitty cat!

  7. If one thinks about it, the cryo likely put huge stress on his body. There’s huge amounts of preservative drugs likely needed to prevent ice crystal formation in the body from killing the person, plus whatever metabolic assistive chemicals are introduced to keep the body on an even keel and in proper form for hibernation.

Add to this waking up prematurely and in need of medical aid, then forcing his body to use its’ regenerative ability to both fix the damage and to purge itself of the remaining cryo chemicals, plus kick-start it enough that it can get warm. That alone produces strain, in this case atop the damage and stresses caused just by having been put in cryo in the first place.

Overall, it’s a fair bit of a mess. Rest well indeed!

  8. Mika: You’re not the only person who’s thought of that aspect of Cryo Sleep.

In the comic Freefall, you have to wait at least five years between each time you go into cryo. This is mainly because the drugs used for cryo are so hard on the body that you’ll die from the second dose if you haven’t had time to recover completely from the first.

Although I’m not sure if it’s the same here in the cyantian universe. It might only take a few weeks or days to recover from cryo.

  9. Thank you, Hariman, for the response. It’s much appreciated.

I’d suspect that the stress by the Cyantian version of cryo is a fair shake less, though not as low as hypersleep from, say, Aliens. Placing something of a wild guess here, I’d say, considering their advanced technology, most likely cryo here is as you might suspect, a matter of a few days of recovery, provided one has proper medical aid upon exiting.

As for the Freefall aspect, I had not been aware of it, and I appreciate the information and clarification.

  10. Well, to reply to an early post by DariusXII:

AFTER he is rested, Syrys will likely go on a bloody rampage as soon as some poor fox shows up – he has a reputation to maintain, after all (war demon and all that…). 😀

  11. Upon finishing that, he will paint himself periwinkle and dance the Flamenco until he reaches home. 😉

  12. @darakh Indeed goodsir XD

@Squival I love red dwarf! Even if I’ve only watched a pirated copy of it….
