Slight rearrangements, which need to be propagated throughout all of Cyantian.net. Not sure what hit the site last, but I noticed that it went from ugly to unreadable. :( So I'm using the time I would have used on creating the comic to fix these issues over the next few days. Apologies for the delay. (Also gives me time to write scripts.) - Tiff

  1. Darius must remember the lesson of the Poke Of Doom (TM). I wonder how long it will be before something… interesting happens.

  2. BZZZZT…wrong answer.

    1. Um, why?

I’m all for the “charge in recklessly like this is Gurren Lagann or GaoGaiGar” Option. But that’s really only for series/comics that run on rule of cool, hot bloodedness, and machismo. The Cyantian Chronicles doesn’t really run on any of them.

I think that Darius made the right call, because at least this gives him the option of finding out more or picking off enemies one by one. Although, yes, it does give him the option of getting caught anyway, it’s still better than charging in heedless of his own safety. And the safety of his friends.

There are reasons a few hours might be a very good thing for Darius and the others. And I don’t just mean the chance of a rescue party or Quinn showing up.

      1. Right answer: Go alert someone. Get help. Try not to be Superwolf on your own.

  3. And don’t forget… er… um… Theonewhofellintheriver. At some point he’ll be a help too.

  4. Yep, going for the Snake approach. Just don’t try hiding in any cardboard boxes now Darius…

  5. at points like this i am always reminded about some points. Those who read it will recognise a slight influence from a certain writer:

according to some people you are not a hero unless you rush in blindly to do what is good, often getting a lot of friends and many times yourself killed in the process. Hanging back, assessing the situation, trying to find a “back door” is not heroic. it might even be heretic, and it certainly spoils the fun

  6. Darius, being a wolf in everything down to nature, functions best when working with others. There are times he WILL be reckless, but he is not ever stupid. This is not one of them. Kel, Darius, Celina and Sheana bring out the best in each other when together, because they ARE a pack.

    1. Oh yeah. He IS a wolf, with all the extra instincts that come with the package. There’s also the genetic elite factor and the effect of knowing that you’re capable of surviving more that probably contributes to this decision.

Plus, this avoids any rearguard that was left at the ranch.

  7. um IDIOT!! Isn’t the point of the whole thing to STOP THE VILLAIN!? And KEL DOESN’T EVEN KNOW YOU’RE THERE!! EVEN IF YOU KILL THE VILLAIN OR SOMEONE WHO IS AIDING THEM, IT’S BETTER THAN LETTING THEM HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCCEEDING!!

    1. Generals who followed that principle of always pressing on and attacking no matter what the odds have often been known for the most legendary failures in military history. The ones I remember most are the French efforts in early World War I focusing on so-called elan vitale and Hitler’s “never retreat” orders during the later part of World War II (note: I am not comparing anything to his ideologies).
In the first situation the line infantry got so stressed on morale that they just gave up and in the second, millions of soldiers were sent needlessly to their deaths and some prestigious generals almost staged a successful coup because of those idiotic decisions.

  8. The error in his thinking there is that he’s thinking ‘I might kill someone.’ That’s exactly the think he should NOT be worrying about, they attacked him and his friends with the intent to kidnap for obviously bad end for them killing them is quite acceptable if that’s what it takes to rescue and protect the others. I doubt Celina worried about killing any of them under the circumstances.
