  1. Heh. There’s not much benefit to Vin either, Vin just has to play along until they can all escape.

    I think Vin’s doubts will vanish if/when he gets the chance to find out that “detained” included blasted with lightning and possibly concussed. Not to mention bound and gagged.

    Also, I think Celina would be offended that Rama just insinuated that she’s related to Darius.

  2. And the ‘benefit’ to -me- would beeee….?

  3. I’m with Hariman here.
    @Iron Ed: Good one.

  4. There are always two sides to every story. Yes – Rama killed Vin’s mother but was she taking care of Vin and protecting him from her lover? As stated she had plenty of oppurtunity to get welfare for Vin to get him clothes, food, and schooling supplies but she did not. And when Vin was being bashed and abused who stepped in to help him? Rama did.
    Plus we have only heard the Akaelea’s side of things too.
    Rama has been true to his word so far. Vin’s friends are restrained but Not hurt apart from what was needed to capute them.
    So.. I’ll wait until this pan’s out.

    1. Lycanthrope has half of why Rama’s side of the story isn’t to be trusted. (Rama killed Vin’s Mother and Oran and left instead of just telling Vin that this was the first chance he’d gotten to be near Vin.) There’s a worse part of Rama that Vin and the other cubs don’t know about yet.

      We’ve already seen that Rama had Filaire collect data on all the cubs so that he could break them to his will. The reference is about two updates into Darius and was a decent number of months ago by now, but it was a dark insight into Rama’s plans.

      It’s not that we haven’t heard Rama’s side of the story. It’s that Rama’s side is indefensible, so Rama has to lie to his own son to recruit him.

  5. Oh look, Rama just told a complete truth. There is no benefit to the Akaelaes believing a word he says. He just neglected the part about it not being to anyone else’s benefit.

    If Rama had wanted to protect Vin he only had to walk up to Vin’s mom and her lover and tell them to do right or else. Instead he murdered both on cold blood. Then instead of stepping up to take care of his son he sunk back into the shadows and left Vin to fate. There is plenty of evidence Vin’s mom refused aid because she was scared to death of Rama, and felt going through government programs would have called attention to them. I would be willing to bet she allowed her lover to beat Vin because Rama’s abuses of her had left her too weak to stand up for herself, much less him.

    There is only one side to this story. Rama abandoned any right to a side long before now.
