Well, they did need someone to teach the basics of technomagery, among other things.
It seems they are already living in interesting times. And that’s how we like it.

Akaelae IS a couple years before Puppet Strings. But I think Quinn has always been shorter than Cilke.
It’s kinda funny to me that Syrys only introduced Cilke and Sheana.

IIRC, Cilke will be over 6 feet tall when she gets grown. Quinn will be much shorter. Mercial looks rather pleased to be teaching rather than chasing around the hinterlands – or maybe she just likes the idea of torturing cubs on a daily basis. 😀

Yeah, I thought Cilke had always been fairly tall… I love how Cyantian ears can show expressions even from behind. XD
Maybe it’s my fondness for foxes, but I’ve always thought Mercial was quite pretty. ^_^ And her fur patterns are exquisite.

How tall is Syrys?

IIRC, Syrys is over 7 feet tall (I seem to remember 7 1/2 feet tall?). Wolves get very large (though it takes a very long time for one of the genetic elite wolves to reach their full height).

Unusual question here: is Mercial the fox in any way related to Mercial the Ouley that Quinn knows? I know this may sound like an odd question, but considering the number of interesting phenomena shown in the comic, I have to wonder.
I appreciate any answers, especially anything considered official on the matter.

@Hex: Answered my question before I even thought to ask it. Now I know I’m not the only one with that issue.
I know that foxes have a shorter stature than wolves but Mercial looks like a midget next to Syrys. Which makes me wonder, how short is Mercial? Comparing her to Syrys makes me estimate 5 1/2 to 6 feet… I feel short now…. because I’m in that height range lol

I think Mercial is fairly short – I’d say 5’3″ at most (I’m guessing here). Tiff has said that Mercial is short even for a fox because she’s a genetic elite (Tiff mentioned this in a previous comic’s comments – though I don’t think she said just what Mercial’s height is). I think Tiff uses a bit of artistic license and often minimizes the actual size difference between Syrys and the rest so everything frames and looks better.

@xenomorph22: Well, we have an idea what it’d be like after seeing how she was with her Mr Dew puppet that she drove everyone crazy with. It Marion had really wanted to do some damage, she should have brought Mr Dew back. Fortunately, there seems to be very little caffeine on Cyantia.

it’s the same. The elite wolves are the last to stand – Omega is the last letter in the greek alphabet, hence the name.

Omega and genetic elite wolves are the same thing. And omega wolves *do* get big – it just takes them a really long time to do so. It’s how their super long lifespan works — essentially, their physical maturity is in slow motion – even when cubs – and the older they get, the slower their physical maturity advances, eventually stretching out over centuries, but not quite stopping. You can consider that physically, their late teens are spread out over centuries – by not quite reaching physical maturity but continuing to slowly grow, they avoid aging (eventually they do fully mature, then they actually age faster than normal – sometimes much faster – see Celina’s Dad).

Tiggertoo: Omega wolves don’t start to age until they are near the end of their lifespan and their regeneration starts to fail. Then they age very fast and old age hits them like a brick.
Xenomorph22: Some elite wolves are called “elite” simply because they’ve had advance combat training. “Elite” was once applied only to genetic elites, but it’s now extended to qualifying people to remove the stigma attached to it by Rama’s generation of elites.
