Poor Fox he’s spent too much time on earth in the bayou. He’s just a simple southern boy. A nice Cajun boy. Right or did I read his intro wrong.
*Kitty heads for her Tardis* Maiow..
Who didn’t see that one coming? Darrik is freaked out about the mini whips and neither Sheana nor Vincent is concerned. In fact, both seem Very confused that Darrik is freaked out.
Baby dragons indeed.
Dragons do have a bit of a reputation for burning villiges and kidnapping maidens… it is more of a tradition than anything else.
I would be a little worried out to if I saw others behaving so casually with dragon-ish creatures like that.
Hellooooo culture shock! I might have a similar reaction if I were suddenly confronted by miniwhips. But I’d probably ask if I could get one as a pet. 😉
Well, he didn’t collide with anyone. Surprise two someones, yes. But no collisions.
Also, growing up in the swamps, his experience with reptilian type creatures will be mostly alligators (not known for their cuddly dispositions) and snakes (many poisonous – and again, not so cuddly). So beyond just the idea of dragons, his visceral reaction to the whips is much how he would feel about suddenly meeting enormous flying alligators and flying snakes.
Darrik doesn’t _look_ excited… more like terrified, with the ears back and all.
I so feel sorry for Darrik, he should have been given some nature documentaries to watch, or at least a children’s book of Cyantian animals, otherwise he’s going to be freaking every other moment, LOL.
*thinks a moment* “….flying snakes and alligators…..” Yeah that would be a real moment for anyone. I’d possibly react in the same way. (and I too live in a swamp)
Tira and Darrik were speaking khasi. Now they’re speaking standard wolf. They’ve concentrated on conversational terms. Darrik has seen the whips before… but not outside of a book.

I didn’t see it coming! I honestly thought he would have realized that they are safe by now!! AND that he would know their proper names!

culture shock may not be the words for it. Poor kid doesn’t know what to expect next, if this keeps up his head might explode.
Dragonshardz
Oooh, Darrik’s head exploding would be messy.
Culture shock, definitely.

I can almos see them thinking … ‘What’s a dragon?’
I wonder … What language are they using anyway? Especially between Tira and Darri,

And he’s using terminology that he’s familiar with. Using terms from a language they’re not familiar with.

Sometimes, culture shock is the best comedy! ;ᗜ;
Akaelae is the first Cyantian Chronicles comic I’m serializing in a rewritten, text version. You can read it on Kindle Vella OR via Patreon.
