By the time Vince was old enough to remember that, his mom was probably either mentally/emotionally trapped in her reality, or actually physically trapped with threat of being killed if she ran and went for help. What ever help she could get to, would be at the cost of either her life, or her cubs.. which would probably come above hers in her mind.

I think Vin’s mom had significant problems well before Rama ever raped her. It’s very sad to see little Vin there — so much “what’s wrong Mommy?”
