My interview with TGT  is currently in bracket 5 and trailing.  So listen to my interview and my competitors' and then VOTE for which you like best!  Winner gets another interview and you know, that does sound kind of fun.  I had a good time doing the first one.  You can vote once a day. The trees are, btw, mangrove trees.  I looked for a tree that would be big enough to put a house in it and be located in Florida/Arkansas/Lousiana and came across the mangrove, which is a very interesting tree in how it grows from the 'top down'. ;)  It occurred to me that it could probably be manipulated and a well hidden group of homes could be easily carved into them with the right tools. Got gryphons to keep the snakes out.. along with a few other native Cyantian creatures that were brought across as pets. ;)  And the cats... there are a LOT of domestic cats living with the foxes as pets because they like cats. :D

  1. Ooh! So we get to know more about Darrik’s home? This sounds like fun. =D

  2. The natural fence didn’t do much to keep out ill intentioned agents of Rama. Although, that might be too much to expect of a naturally occurring barrier.

It looks like Darrik is either filming for or trying out for a nature documentary right now.

    1. They were actually OUTSIDE the trees when Darrik got caught by Rama.

      1. Well that made it even less effective! Really now, it should have grown big enough to protect him no matter where he was. 😉

Oh, 1984 and some other books/films know how you feel.

  3. Must not be the current Gulf oil slick. If memory serves, this part of the storyline is happening during a 1990’s timeframe. Campus Safari happens about a 2000 or so timeframe.

  4. Lovely background on this panel, Tiff.

  5. I like the background. Are those Banion trees?

I wonder what the oil is in reference to. Is this an anacronism dealing with the current oil spill? Is there a change in the time-frame of the comic?

Oil naturally leaks out of the ocean floor all the time. Perhaps he’s referring to an ill-publicized influx of naturally leaking oil? Or perhaps there was another, older oil spill of which I was unaware.

The Exon Valids oil spill was of the west coast, up around Alaska.

This is also a bit early for Hurrican Katrina, which he also should have been aware of, if he was aware of the gulf oil spill.

    1. Adoy, yes, they are mangroves. It was already stated. Adoy.

  6. It refers to any oil spoil currently and in the future – because I’m going to be scrubbing actual ‘dates’ in the future. It gets kind of annoying when you PASS the date when you set it in the future. 😀

  7. Darrik’s attempt to keep the vocabulary simple kinda reminds me of my own first tries to participate in English written forums. ^_^

  8. Ah, yes, the Mangrove tree. The only tree that can live off of saltwater. It does grow thick, I refer to the mangrove woods as “the impenetrable forest”, because it’s darn near impossible to squeeze thru the mangroves when they are left to their own growth.

Also, Kudos to knowing about the different types of Mangroves 😉
