@ hariman it could be phosphorescent algae, too. Or something else, since this is another planet, after all. The first thing I thought of was something similar to a Moonwell on WoW. 😛
This is just a guess but I bet this ‘Pool Of Lights’ is something that COULD and MIGHT make Darrik’s powers go haywire.

I fear I must myself think most likely it will either be a light-gate under the water, or possibly some remnant ancient technology. Who knows what might have been left behind or hidden from either the race that created the Cyantians or later, by the Squid later… Mind you, I’d think the innocent answer first, if it wasn’t for Darrik’s luck and apparent fate to walk himself into “interesting” situations…

I think the pool of lights is a local landmark. It’s likely a pond with phosphorescent moss or fungi growing on the bottom.
