It sounds cruel but freezing to death is not all that bad. From the survivors of hypothermia you get cold, feel sleepy, then warm again as the blood moves in from the extremities, and then you simply go to sleep.
At least Syrs give Cisco a dream of hope to cling to rather than the enevitiable.
