Okay. I figured that Quinn’s electron orbital manipulating power could possibly make other people phase as well but I later figured that it was probably too much trouble than it’s worth given that she didn’t do it to Kamila. I mean, Quinn has to de-orbit more electrons than normal and can’t rely on her usual senses in order to tell which ones to de-orbit. She also has to make sure that her hand doesn’t phase through Darius’s. And I don’t want to think of what would happen if she screwed up. However, she could take clothing with her in phasing so this obviously isn’t as much of a problem as I’m making it out to be. However, I do wonder why she didn’t do the same thing to Kamila. It could possibly do with Kamila’s physical state, her mental state, or her species.
I don’t think it’s manipulating electron orbitals, because the result of coming down from that would be a pulse of light. My guess is she’s simply either a) performing a macro-scale version of quantum tunneling, or b) she’s actually altering her presence in our normal 4D frame of reference and dimensionality. It IS possible she’s crossing branes, but I’m not familiar enough with that concept to comment in a meaningful manner.
I quote from the Shivae Wiki: “The Sirac Phase Shift ability works by allowing the Sirac to move its atoms between the space between the object’s atoms.” That strongly implies electron orbital manipulation.
… or it could be that Quinn didn’t know how to do it at the time but learned because of that incident. Nothing like a good knock upside the head to get you to learn a bit more.
