  1. That’s got to be fun to hear, “We found your kid… we are sending excavation teams there now…”

  2. Well… I imagine that with Silver is not so weird 🙂

  3. I imagine that even with Silver, this is a new record!

Yes, but even so…people are going to start freaking out very soon, possibly involving much screaming and yelling, maybe even some hysterical arm-waving. Should be fun to watch.

  5. The saddle looks great. The details on it are fantastic – like the little tassels on the back. It is very like the way I imagined a harness for a winged creature would be. Functional, yet artistically embellished. Well done!

  6. I quite agree with the saddle. Though It doesn’t seem as functional to me as it could be. Granted, for a skilled rider its probably very functional.

I’d bet this is a new one, even for Silver. This is going to be a fun one to explain.

  7. oh dear, them lot are screwed

  8. Yeah, “located the missing cubs” and “need excavation and med teams … immediately!” are not phrases you want mentioned anywhere near each other. Maybe Quinn can actually do something good here and get in or at least take a look to see how Silver and Safiri are doing.

  9. where in Campus Safari did silver appear?

  10. Silver appeared pretty early in Campus Safari. She was one of the characters in the first arc of Campus Safari.

As for the saddle, it looks to me like there’s a girth strap that goes around the chest of the gryphon like a normal saddle. However, there’s also a secondary strap that goes to the front of the neck/chest. The “main” girth strap also anchors at two points on the saddle. Which makes sense as a single girth strap would NOT hold properly against the varying forces of flight.

It also looks like our searcher hasn’t moved his hands and arms from their position on the saddle. I think that gryphon’s require that you maintain your grip/position on the saddle with your hands as well as feet. Which means that you direct your gryphon’s flight using your legs and body position.

Funnily (and logically) enough, using your leg and body position instead of the reins is often considered the correct way to ride a horse. (It frees up your hands.) A lot of thought has gone into the look and design of that simple pairing of saddle, rider and gryphon.

  11. Well, at least someone has dialed 911.

  12. Excelle .nt job with the rider’s expression here

  13. Well, exactly WHY does he have on a construction helmet!? XD

    1. The only reason it looks like a construction helmet is that it’s the same color as his armor. I think it’s one of those battle helmets.
