Since this was brought up in chat: I figured that after a few months of good eating, Vin's fur would be shinier, a bit darker and with more lustre. That's why his markings now faintly show up even when not wet. When wet, they're even more prominent though. ;) Maybe as he gets older they'll show up even more.

Huh. I was under the impression Vin’s stripes were basically invisible (excepting of course after he’s been drenched… as explained way, way back)

Ya know, you’re right. I d forgotten about that little detail. Maybe it’s just when he’s drenched and wearing clothes or something. Or they’ve grown more prominent in the past few years.
