Yes. This... the THIRD time I've done this opening... is NOT exactly the same as the previous two. It's better drawn for one thing. Still features Chatin, but not a Cilke in sight! :)
He doesn’t stand Sheana up intentionally. It’s rather easy to forget the time of day when you’re sleeping. Being a commander isn’t exactly fun. The long hours, sorting out other people’s problems, and lots of paper work. I’m guessing he doesn’t get much sleep. Regardless he really makes an effort for Sheana towards the end of the old Campus Safari comic.
True; Darius doesn’t do it intentionally. What I’m more concerned with is that this has been a pattern his whole life. He’s old enough now to either have learned and already changed, or to be set more-or-less permanently in his ways.
And I’m not just talking about ‘forgetting’ promises to Sheana, but his whole treatment of both her and Celina. Also true that Darius does make an effort towards the end of CS, but -only- after being threatened by Celina!
On the whole I like Darius; he’s really quite likeable. However; he’s also a seriously self-centered jerk and something of a bully himself.

“And I’m not just talking about ‘forgetting’ promises to Sheana, but his whole treatment of both her and Celina.” In Akaelae it was explained(from Celina’s perspective) that Celina feels Darius’s presence encroaches on her friendship with Kel and is generally annoyed by his presence. Celina pretty much sets herself up for teasing by goading Darius. It probably isn’t the most mature choice to tease her back but Darius is well accustomed to being smaller than everyone else and looked down at. Darius does not liked being picked on, small wonder why he gives bullies a good licking.
I really have no idea why your implying he treats Celina, Shaena, or women in general like crap. Darius has NEVER physically retaliated against Celina even though it is very much within his abilities to bloody her nose.

Darius flat out confessed he was worried he would make a bad mate, not that he didn’t care about Shaena but rather he wanted her to be happy. But at the same time he loved Shaena and didn’t want to let her go. Celina just helped act him upon his already existing feelings, he take action from fear of Celina.
mayhaps this is a little back stroll to just before stuff goes boom….
Srsly, there needs to be a water cannon or something in that office to get him outta there…….Perhaps an alarm clock that sounds like chickens inna coup.

Darius hasn’t changed a bit over the years as far as the women in his life are concerned. That’s why he is -not- my favorite character.
(…and perhaps the “tags” line should have Chatin listed instead of Cilke? 🙂 )
