This is giving me flashbacks to Ed from Digger, who was stripped of his name from his hyena tribe and exiled for killing his mate because she was violently abusive and it was the only way to save their daughter as the village looked on in silence and did nothing to save any of them. The protagonist gave him the name Ed that he carried to his death.

Hmm. Now I’m wondering how much of this is from his time at Genoworks, and how much is from after Seraphim’s escape from genoworks.
He probably escapes when he was very young, and has likely been alone this whole time.
