Does that bio scanner differentiate between wolf and Rumuah? If not we just got a clue to how many survivors there are. If it’s not picking up Rumuah…darn Rama did try coming for bear.

I’m pretty sure one of the first design considerations the Rumah would have taken in building their sanctuary bunker would be shielding against sensors. They want to emerge, yes, but not to discover pirates attacking them or someone like Rama invading. They like the Cyantians yes, but the safety of a whole species must take special considerations. They emerge on their terms, no one else’s.
It could very well be a Legion, Hariman hon. Considering that the Romans were still a very well remembered force, and their methodology has been copied so much, it is completely possible that the Cyantian standards for the military are based on ten instead of 8 in this case…

Hmm. “At least 100 life signs” means that Rama probably has a Company of soldiers there. (About 80.)
But, there’s also slaves and likely scientists to complicate matters more.
Still, Syrys is right to not only bring a small army to fight this battle, but also to be cautious about traps.
