  1. Hmm. It’s time for a game of “Caption the unheard dialog!” I’ll go first!

“By the Three Sisters, we’re working for Rama! We need to get out of here!”

  2. Girl: “By the goodness of Rama we have something instead of nothing?”

Boy: “Nothing still pretty much sums it up.”

Both: “We need to get out of here!”

  3. “Please, Sir; I’d like some more.”

    1. “WE’RE OUT OF COFFEE!”

      1. “Don’t panic! Don’t panic!… Okay, panic!”

      2. “Grab your towel, Arthur!”

  4. Girl: Rama wants some buttered toast!

Boy: But we don’t have butter for the toast.

Both: Then Rama will surely cook us into a roast!

  5. Red Fox: Pinkie Pie has twitchy tail!

(Sorry, but considering things are coming from the sky, it fits :D)

  6. I can’t help the feeling that Rama at last partly intends all those captives to be some kind of cannon fodder.

You know, like springing traps or forcing the enemy to commit himself. Since the enemy is an Akaele this could mean forcing the enemy to commit resources to protecting them.

    1. I think any such attempt would cost more than it would gain. Just trying to force slaves into the line of fire would probably cause them to run, and at best, they’re crowd out sight lines and restrict incoming fire from the Akaelae forces.

Until the slaves all ducked or ran to the sides in self preservation.

Now, the fox he has as ground troops? THEY’RE the cannon fodder! Heck, he might even lump Filaire in with them ever since she refused his advances!

Bad idea; Ferric would be -most- upset with him! 😉 🙂 🙂

Just curious… What is the female in the second panel? I do not recognize her type.

        1. Looks like a (crimson-)red fox to me. She just has her ears aback.

  7. How can Rama be so brutal since many of them are his children. Has he no respect for life at all?

    1. You must be new to the comic. Rama has repeatedly demonstrated he has no respect for any life except his own. He murdered his son, Vin’s, mother in cold blood along with her drug-dealing lover. It was not done out of jealousy, but s cold, calculated plan to draw Vin over to his side. He has spoken openly of having a certain servant for dinner the following evening if she did not please his plans. Rama is the veritable embodiment of amoral evil. It is not without cause that polite Cyantian society despises him, and his own employees serve him with their throats clenched to keep down the bile.

    2. Chances are, either you haven’t read Akaelae or it’s been a while since you read Akaelae. Rama’s past and other actions of Rama’s are detailed there. The evil Rama has committed and what he’s willing to do is further expanded upon here in Darius.

Also, the best way I can put it is that Rama’s had at least 500 years to slide down the slippery slope. It turns out he went on a one way trip to the bottom of the Maraianas Trench!
