  1. Wow is it me or do they all look a little older now?

Cilke doesn’t seem upset in the slightest.

Surprises, i have an odd hunch….but i may very well be wrong.

  2. Heh, seems that Cilke is actually rather amused at something Mercial said. From other parts of the comic, I would say that it’s because Cilke is quite adept at things Technomagish even without the free-energy aura.

  3. I can’t recall any time Cilke has been adept at anything technomagish. She always wanted to be a soldier at Genoworks and she’s apparently already decided that she doesn’t want to be a technomage.

I’ve got to wonder if reading a person’s aura is an accurate way to determine if they can become a technomage. I get the feeling that Mercial might be biased in her judgement and that anyone who is willing to learn can be a technomage. Though probably with a little more difficulty than those who have a natural aura.

  4. I wonder what the surprises are…
Maybe some of the little dragon familiars?

  5. Love Mercial’s poses…darn cute vixen, and she knows it, too! Lucky thing the boys are too young to truly appreciate that…they’d never be able to pay attention to her lessons, otherwise!

  6. good or bad surprises?
I consider textbooks to be bad

  7. Judging from Syris pose and facial expression I doubt it will be something dreadful.
Guess he has more or less already forgiven them their mischief. Didn’t Grandfather said something about Syris being a little rough and mischieves in his childhood, too? maybe he rembered that.

  8. @Stripey: my thoughts exactly

  9. I’d be a little offended to be called a kit by someone half my size though… lol

  10. @Fang: I can see where your coming from as it can sometimes be hard to take someone seriously when you look down on them, literally, but for me personally, it wouldn’t bother me since I’m the tallest in a family of short people. Granted I’m about average height but I’m used to being called the “little” things (little brother, little boy, etc, etc…).

Still I didn’t think most of the cubs would be that much taller than Mercial.

  11. I wonder what the surprise is. Gow lancers?

  12. Not to mention that the cubs will learn respect the first time that Mercial tosses one of them across the room. Without touching the offending party.

If Kel’s any indication, they are hitting “that age”, though I’m not sure if Mercial will cause that kind of problem. Not with Vin and Darrik repeating “Make it a clean cut.”

  13. Hey, Mercial has no whiskers!

  14. Mercial is…REALLY short.

And her comment there reminded me of a line from one of the characters in “The Shining”. Odd that she would refer to an aura in that manner.

The wiki did say at one point that Cyantian males were less interested in a certain subject than human males, so I doubt there will be any troubles from that quarter.

  15. Well, this means that Cilke can slide while the others have to bust their tails doing whatever Mercial cooks up for them – so she’s thinking “Bonus!”. Also, remember that Cilke is only like 4 years old chronologically here – about 13 physically – she *is* a kit (even if she’s already about 5’10” tall) – and Quinn is even younger. Cilke’s into lifts, not technomagery – she wants to fly (and fight).

  16. @tiggertoo: quinn and cilke are the same age!

  17. @xenomorph22: no they’re not — Quinn is a year younger – she’s only 3 chronologically at this point in time – Cilke is 4 — though they’re about the same age physically – about 13 (look at the shivae wiki). This was more obvious when Syrys rescued them from Genoworks – Cilke was obviously more mature at that point – Quinn was just a little cub; Syrys carried Quinn and Colin while Cilke and the rest were big enough to hoof it on their own.

  18. Gah, Am I thinking of Chatin then? I thought I remembered one of the two making all sorts of cool gadgets, which Celena would always end up making a mess with.. The teleporter that Led into Sink Or Swim.

  19. KHGV Defenestration

“Never” doesn’t sound like a very technomagery thing to say.

  20. Hrliss: I could be wrong, but the way I recall it, the portable teleporter was made by Chatin, (ab)used by Cilke (transporting them to Earth), leading into Campus Safari (not Sink Or Swim)…

  21. Aye, it was Chatin that made the teleporter and Cilke that performed the “Ooh! What does this do?” and brought them to Earth.

  22. Hee hee hee, I can imagine Darrik’s panic when he finds a mini-whip waiting for him. ;D

  23. I kinda miss Darius 🙁

  24. Let’s see, Quinn is pretty much a given, Vin controls the freaking weather subconciously, Darrik is a black fox and we all remember that stunt with the horse, Sheana, a bit of a surprise but remember that she’s actually closely related to Vin.
