Help me with the time line here… Is this oil spill the one that just happened in the Gulf of Mexico, or the one here in Alaska back in 1989? Since this is supposed to happen before Campus Safari…?
Tiff said in the comments for the previous comic that the oil spill “refers to any oil spoil currently and in the future.” She’s not using specific dates or locations because that tends to bring complications in stories and such.
Plus, there’s oil that naturally leaks into the Gulf of Mexico all the time. So it could be a random natural oil spill for Darrik’s “bad year”.
Also, one of Tiff’s comments from the prior comic was that she decided to scrub the dates when she updates Campus Safari, because she’s already passed the future dates she was previously chosen.

Most definitely NOT here. As I read it, Vincent has a southern accent, and we have very few marshes by the water.

Besides, Mangroves don’t live on the Northern Pacific Coast. but they do like the warm climate of the Gulf of Mexico.
