  1. Oh dear. The poor kid was burned and lost a hand merely because he smelled like Syrys’ ex girlfriend. 🙁

All the more reason to find Rama and remove him from the ranks of the living.

Syrys is probably doing to right thing here, as leaving Riven Valdor on his own is probably an invitation to more trouble down the line.

For those who don’t know, Danie was a close girlfriend of Syrys’ not long before he was frozen by the fox during the prior war. Unfortunately, Syrys and Danie were separated when they were both caught by the fox military at the time.

It seems we might finally find out some of what happened to Danie after that.

  2. That smile….in the first panel…is creepy. lol.

  3. I don’t think Rama had the fox flayed for the sake of torture, I think Rama wanted to test his regenerative abilities and possibly adapt them for his own use. If anything, it is far more chilling that Rama looks at other sapient beings with the emotional detachment that one would feel towards flaying a melon. A typical sadist is something I can understand. They usually have a screwed-up upbringing and severe emotional/mental issues, but they at least feel something when indulging in their sick desires. Maybe I’m reading too much into this but Rama seems to be a breed apart from simple villains, something worse, something incapable of feeling anything. Or maybe he’s a generic badguy that likes to eat sentient rabbits and screw anything with a heartbeat.

    1. Rama thinks that all sentient beings, including himself, are just “animals which walk upstand and talk”. Therefore, he acts as an animal.

      1. That’s the crux of the issues with Rama.

He CHOSE to be amoral, it wasn’t something he was taught.

    2. I would not call Rama’s upbringing ‘normal’. Seeing as he was brought up with mind set that mixbreeds/non-pure are unnatural, suffered the consequences of his parents mix species breeding from birth both in the form of physical deformities that needed prolonged/painful corrections and the rejection of not being a ‘pure breed’…..

I’m pretty sure that the fact the fox smelled like Syrys’ ex girlfriend aided in the ‘encouragement’ of ‘testing’ the fox’s regenerative abilities.

I mean, if you already hate someone on fact they remind you of some one you hate at least find a way to ‘benefit’ from prolonging the torment you were already going to inflict.

  4. Whoa, plot twist! Danie’s little brother, maybe?

    1. She lived 400 years ago, more likely he’s her great^n-grandson.

Or nephew depending on what happened to her.

Either way I hope possible relationship to his old girlfriend isn’t the only reason Syrys wants to take him in.

      1. Considering that fox elite (the ones with regeneration) are usually black, white or silver? That’s a safe hope to have!

        1. Aren’t the Golds carriers of the elite genotype, “mostly” inactive, with the emphasis of mostly?

      2. Yeeeah, I forgot they don’t all live 400 years. Just the Omegas, right? I think…. ugh, I get so confused about Cyantian history.

I’m still always hoping that Danie will be found somewhere still in cryostasis… or that we will at least learn exactly what happened to her. OR that I will get to read the entire Danie novella as I only got to read the first half. 🙁

        1. It’s just elite wolves that live that long. All other immigrant Cyantians, including elite foxes, live about 120 years.

      3. How would he smell like her then? He said the kit smells like Danie, not a descendent of Danie.

        1. Vincent smelled enough like Rama to be identified as Rama’s son.

Riven is likely closely related to Danie, explaining the similar scent.

  5. How much you wanna bet that “level 6” can regrow entire limbs and organs?
