Anyone else thinking of Jenner’s line regarding the King’s attitude toward the gold fox(curse my memory): “Don’t get any ideas; you’re in this up to your NECK!”?
Eh, that’s what happens in a coup. Had the King been a decent one instead of nuts, no one would have issue with him. The gold foxes especially seemed to have the most to gain from the takeover, given what Vin said in Akaelae about not trusting them.
“Okay, we’re going to draw a pint of your blood, dye your fur, ship you off to the mounties, and use the blood to fake your death. Good luck in your new life!”

It just occurred to me that the technicians might be deliberately choosing for females, to ensure that the Rashon line dies sooner rather than later.

Yeap, similar situation although the regret didn’t come until the king was crowned. 🙁
