Please, PLEASE tell me that isn’t a Cyantian Platypus.
If Genoworks has made one, then Rashoun would see their military potential all too soon given that platypus venom is the most painful thing on Earth by far. So much that morphine will never be enough and doctors have to actually sever the nerves to stop said pain.
“It’s no good, the militia just found out about the results and is pushing hard to get the venom. The intelligence division has expressed a personal interest in the project.”
Chakat Firepaw
“Fine, here’s a modified yeast that will produce the venom as a byproduct. Tell them to have fun with dart guns.”
“Oh, good. Someone in intelligence has a conscience, or at least some scruples. They not only refuse to use such a painful venom, but also fired the person who requested it in the first place.”
Or: “Delete the data, scrub the server and all backups, we’re leaving, and not letting them use the venom. We’ll also release the knowledge about it’s effects to the public, so they know that it’s so painful that it would be considered torture, and a war crime too.”
For that second one, the whole start of Genoworks Saga was the leadership finally snapping and doing that. First one, I don’t know, Rashoun was a psychopath with a lot of loyal followers but I’m not sure he would have allowed the use platypus venom for “interrogation” or not.
Okay, I’m going to have to admit that I made a bit of a mistake here since these are the guys who never realized that kangaroos fight best with their feet, despite the fact that their “cousins” have been known to disembowel people with a single kick and probably have done so to a few researchers. There is either a very severe amount of incompetence here or the “real” Genoworks is very good at hiding intel from the militia.

“Sir, we’ve found that the venom from these “platipi” is incredibly painful, and could be used as a weapon.”
“We’re not designing weapons, we’re designing art. Remove the venom glands, if you can, or reduce the affect of the venom.”

“And mind me platypus duck, Bill
Mind me platypus duck
Oh, don’t let him go running amuck, Bill
Just mind me platypus duck “
Colin G
To the tune of Tie Me Kangaroo Down naturally.

It’s the fifth verse. Right before “Play your didgeridoo, Blue.”
Though I was partial to “So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde. And that’s it hangin’ on the shed!”
